During the week of March 25, 2010, Congress passed major legislation, which removed all private lenders from the federal loan program and made it mandatory for all colleges and universities who participate in the federal loan program to participate in the new Federal Direct Lending Program. The Department of Education serves as the lender for the Federal Direct Lending Program. Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, King College will be processing ALL Federal Stafford, Parent Plus, and Grad Plus loans through the Federal Direct Lending program. Please follow this link to learn more about how this change will affect you. It is important that you follow through with all the new required steps as soon as possible in order for your Financial Aid to be processed. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the King College Financial Aid office at 423.652.4725 or email financialaid@king.edu.
Consolidation loans are offered on a limited basis after graduation. Contact your lender for information on whether consolidation is right for you.
Once you have completed the electronic loan process and your loan is approved, the funds are sent to King College via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and applied to your student billing account. Funds are sent the first day of each semester if the loan is approved prior to the first day of class.
First-time Stafford loan borrowers are also required to complete loan entrance counseling. Complete the counseling now at www.mappingyourfuture.org or return to this page after you complete the electronic application process. Loan proceeds cannot be credited to your student account until this requirement is completed.
A loan origination fee may be withheld from loan proceeds, not to exceed 3% (varies by lender).
If you are unable to complete the electronic loan process please contact the Financial Aid Office at 423.652.4725 or by e-mail at financialaid@king.edu.
